⑦ The boundaries of the two urethral orifices are marked with coagulation and in the same way the border between the bladder neck and the prostatic gland is defined. This maneuver serves both to establish a reference point for resection and to cauterize super ficial veins.

⑧ The assistant withdraws the catheter followed endoscopically by the primary operator until it is positioned above the verumontanum to protect it and establish the apical limit of the resection.
